Barry Bowe currently serves as the principal at Northwest School of the Arts in Charlotte, North Carolina. Dr. Bowe received undergraduate degrees in music and photography. He earned a Master Degree in education administration and his Doctor of Education in leadership.

Barry created West Virginia’s first Magnet School for the Arts at Chandler Elementary in Charleston. This program utilizes the process developed by German composer Carl Orff. Additional leadership roles have resulted in dramatic increases in student achievement.

A Renaissance man, Barry has taught at the elementary, secondary, and graduate levels. His teaching experiences include computer science, gifted, journalism, mentally impaired, and music. Barry specializes in staff development training that translates educational research into practical classroom and school techniques and strategies. Barry served as the founding project manager for Arts Alive: The Best of WV, sponsored by the West Virginia Department of Education. This annual showcase features the best in performing and visual arts across the mountain state. Barry is honored to continue his passion for leadership and the fine arts at Northwest School of the Arts in Charlotte, NC.
